The Rules…

Please take your time to read these - they will help you get the most out of role play in Dark Isle if you are looking for more background info then What is Dark Isle should help

Ahh welcome, i see the mists have brought another to our shores, then sit traveler and eat and i will tell you what you need to hear to survive here.
Where are you ? a good question and one not easily answered, this is the Isle of Darkness.

Why are you here ? One question you have to decide for yourself i am afraid.

You felt the mists surround you and drag you from where you knew and then, before you knew it, you were here looking at me eh ? That is how the gods work my friend.

The gods ? Best to leave them till last, for now i should tell you of the rulers of this land.

The land was ruled by the king, what happened to him and his ? Well…best you don’t ask for there was dark witchcraft involved…
Why i gave you the clothes and called you peasant ? Why, that is what you are till you are noticed by others and maybe your talents come out.

You make me laugh friend with all your questions, but for now I will humour you, after all, you may have the gift of changing in your blood.

Remember, magic runs through this land and is in everything and you would do well to remember that, although Nobles may impress with their ability, that it is the Druids who give them this power on behalf of the gods.

Yes, there are women who have held magic but they are a dangerous and dying breed, even a child knows to deal with a Witch in only one way, by the blade and fire lest they trap your soul in a stone for eternity..

Changing ? Why it is the power the Druids give to the nobles of the land, the ability to change into and control the great dragons.
But such great power comes at a price, not often will you see it used by them and even the Druids themselves are drained after using their own magic to work charms or spells on people.
Mark my words friend, keep the Druids kind to you and you will always be able to call on them, make them your enemies and well…even death would be a release compared to what a druid can do to you.

The main rule here is to have fun, granted we have a few hardset rules that cannot be broken but generally we are all here to enjoy and let our stories out through our avatars, if you need help just ask, you will find most of the people here are more then willing to spend a moment to help with any questions.

Rules Of The Sim:

  • Only appropriate attire and weaponry is acceptable. No push weapons allowed.
please no jeans, moden clothes and gowns for wmen - if you are wearing hot pants it might get rp’d as a tavern wench!
  • All characters in this Sim will be humanoid and of a legal age (18). No childlike avatars allowed either.
  • Griefers will never be tolerated. Griefing is defined as acts, verbal or physical, that cause a detriment to others’ roleplay and SL experience without consent to do so (i.e. using non-Celtic weaponry or objects or RP, littering the SIM with foreign objects, etc.).
  • Abide by our rules, if not then YOU will be asked politely to leave. If YOU do not leave as requested…YOU will be banned.
  • Races and Avatars not allowed: Anything thats not Human basically, no furries, Neko’s etc etc..You will all start as a human, plain and simple, if in the course of your time here the gods decide to favour you with their gifts from the Druids then such abilties ( such as shapechanging ) may be bestowed on you.
  • We do not use online acronyms such as LOL LMAO, AFK, BRB, etc
  • Except as otherwise provided by this code, all activity in the Sim should be in the furtherance of role play. Players shall keep out of character (OOC) conversations to a minimum and must use IM or double parentheses (( )) in chat when speaking in out of character interpretations or use of the OOC textiness object is permitted
  • Foul language, real-life animosity or threats, and other OOC drama will not be tolerated in the Sim.
  • Modern slang such as “lol” “brb” “kk” “wtf” “cya” “r u done?” is not appropriate in role play.

Please note, if an incident occurs and you plan on note carding IMs or even general chat, please notify the parties involved to avoid Terms of Service issues with Linden Labs.

These rules may be corrected at any time. Please make sure you read the group notices, public notices, or information provided in other means to keep up-to-date. Ignorance of a rule change is not acceptable.

Some may be asking why they cant be a god, druid, noble straight away. The easy answer is we want you to get to know the people and setting and when the time comes for you to adapt and move up the social ladder it will come through your own endeavor, not simply because it seemed the best thing to do at the time.

We wont hold anyone back from their own visions and ideas but we would ask that you get to your path by following the right channels, think of it like a path from A to B and not simply trying to get to Z the quickest way, Remember quickest is not always best.

More about the levels can be found in this page about the Dark isle Social Structure

It is important to note that once each of the seven rolesĀ  in each group is filled - the only way you can rise through the levels to rp the killing of someone whose boots you wish to fill.

Until the meter is built we have to rely on rp for that - and all kills must be validated by a god (rp mod).

Take a notecard of your rp for them to decide if you were successful.

We are currently developing a meter that will include a way to level up - for now it is up to your roleplay and your ability to climb the ladder up the social scale.
Rememeber, if in doubt simply ask and enjoy…and look forward to sharing your stories with you…

Rp moderators are now the group heads .. if in doubt go to them first
